Open Film Festival is a three ­day festival happening in Hervanta, Tampere from the 12th of May until the 14th of May 2016. We are giving face and voice to cultures which are normally seen through twisted lense by massmedia. Open Film Festival (OFF) is part of the Helsinki African Film Festival but independently organised in Tampere under Shalin Finland.

On Saturday 14th of May movieclub Viva Cinola is having a Bazar in the front yard of the movie theater Cinola. Feel welcome to come and sell your own cookings, second hand clothes etc.

At the Bazar group from Maailmantanssi ry is performing dances from Greece, Israel, Romania and Bulgaria at 2pm and musician Hilton Marowa is playing his own music at 3pm.

Bazar is free of charge and after the event at 4pm Viva Cinola will show one of the festival films Ben & Ara for free to audience.

Eye of the Cyclone (HOFF 2016)

In an African country plagued by civil war, a young idealistic lawyer is officially assigned to defend a rebel accused of war crimes.

Pako

A soldier gets permission from the military services during the Iraqi-Iranian war, and returns back to his village for his wedding. When he returns to the army, he finds his fellows defeated, most of them are lost or dead. He, then escapes from the battlefield, and returns back to the village. When he discovers that the army has announced him as a deceased soldier, he hides himself in his house’s basement to avoid getting arrested.

The documentary tells a story about life, dreams, and fair play: The play may be fair in the pitch, but not so much in life itself.
